Seywan Saeidyan was born in Iranian Kurdistan. He lived as a refugee in Iraqi Kurdistan and Turkey for eighteen years before coming to Sweden in 2018 as a City of Refuge artist. He is a professional artist who has been active in various artistic fields for more than twenty years. Seywan began his artistic work with painting and has held several exhibitions in different countries. Since 2004, Seywan has worked on reviving and internationalizing the “Clove Apple” project, which has been implemented in Kurdistan and fifteen different countries.

He has published a collection of poetry and two children’s books titled “Hedgehog” and “Zebra” in Kurdish, Swedish and Persian languages. In 2024, he completed the book “How to Become a Fox” and is currently illustrating it. His first novel, titled “An Excuse to Send a Shit Manifesto to His Majesty the King,” is ready for publication.

Seywan has also made a short film called “That Apple” and a documentary called “Soft as Metal.” In recent years, he has been mostly engaged in writing and sculpture. He has created four large sculptures. The “Anfal” sculpture, which symbolizes the Kurdish genocide, is located in the city of Erbil, Kurdistan, and is 10 meters tall. In Gävle, Sweden, he created a four-meter-tall metal sculpture called “I Sing for Freedom.” His sculptures made from metal remnants and ammunition have attracted considerable attention. He currently lives in Stockholm, Sweden, and continues his activities in various artistic fields.
