Shamal Nawroli

Shamal Nawroli is a children’s literature writer who has published ten books in Kurdistan under various titles. He has been writing and reading Kurdish literature for more than thirty years. His first book was published in 2014. His works include stories, poems and translations in children’s literature. His works have been published in many children’s magazines in Kurdistan (Mandali Sardam, Papoola, Helana Mandalan, Moshka, Hajila, Nahari, etc.).
Biography of Shamal:
Shamal was born in Sulaimani, completed his primary, secondary and high school education in Sulaimani, then received his academic degree from Salahaddin University in Erbil. He has not worked in any official institution in Kurdistan. After graduating from university, he went abroad several years after the Kurdistan Uprising and now lives in Germany.
As he says about his life abroad, Germany was a turning point in his life, because he soon entered the world of books, literature and writing thanks to his liver corners, friends and surroundings.
Shamal has been interested in reading and writing since childhood. He could not have any literary activities in Kurdistan due to the hectic life and the lack of children’s publications He started writing with the utmost enthusiasm and patience and continues in the field.
Why does Shamal write for children:
Through her writings, Shamal tries to provide happiness and comfort to Kurdistan’s children at all stages of their lives. She believes that there are very few children’s books in Kurdish, even for some age groups.
Shamal is more concerned with children’s literature, which is suitable for reading aged eight and older. He works on a wide variety of children’s literature. for example:
Compassion for animals, friendship between children, their problems, courage and self-confidence, stories in school, in the family, renewal of old Kurdish legends and stories, holidays, trips, explorations, games and other fun.
